Luce Géas

Luce is Agrégée de l’Université and also has a master of science from the school of Economics and Political Science. Following a very successful career as a University Lecturer, Luce retired to concentrate on her major passion, painting. It is Luce’s undisputed love of painting which takes her too many corners of the world; the Pacific, the Americas and Asia. From each journey Luce returns with visual memories which she then transfers to canvas. However, it has been Provence, from where her family came, that continues to provide major influences to her work.Luce’s art is about colour and play of light. Rich, vibrant and evocative colours combine with stylized and elegant composition. Her paintings express harmony and exude, they are uplifting and a very personal interpretation of the landscapes she has witnessed. Early in her career she was influenced by the linear technique of Jacques Villon and then went on to be spellbound by the work of the Fauvists. Colour, simplicity and light are the adjectives to describe the recent works of Luce, qualities that will continue to delight her many collectors. In the year 2010 Luce was awarded the Légion d’Honneur in recognition of her professional, social and artistic work in France.
