Peter Carter
Peter has shown and sold his work in Bristol, Leicester, Birmingham and around the Midlands. He has been a member of the Leicester Society of Artists for forty years exhibiting in their annual show and their more recent project exhibitions (in association with the Leicester Museum Services). He has been a frequent prize-winner and former chairman of the Leicester Society.
Born in Leicester just before the Second World War, he grew up on the edge of Leicestershire’s beautiful countryside which has been an inspiration later on in life through his art.
After training in commercial art and becoming a freelance designer he developed his interest in sculpture working mainly with metal.
“My interest is in forms that cannot be modelled in the traditional way of clay etc. My themes are Planet Earth conservation, movement of gases, winds and rocks moved by natural forces over which man has no control. I try to balance my sculpture in both organic form and architectural structure. My figurative work depicts a wide range of both human and animal activity where I emphasise the power of movement”.
